Guitar and backpack: the journey of Moses, a young musician who promotes slow walking

Turin – Mosè Morsut is a young musician: he started playing the guitar as a child when he was just 8 years old, although some are sure they saw him with a guitar in his hand when he was 7 years old. Today Moses is 26 and we can say that music has always accompanied him, as well as his guitar, an inseparable friend. One day Moses decided to wear a pair of sneakers, a backpack on his shoulder and his guitar decided to leave to cover the 206 kilometers of the Altra Via, the evocative path that connects Turin with Savona.

He named his work Pizzicando l’Altra Via: so wants to promote slow tourism, the region and its history through its music. He left Turin for this trip yesterday, Wednesday 18 May. What awaits him is an adventure that will lead him to cross the hills of Turin, Monferrato, Roero, Langhe and the Ligurian Alps, to the sea, where he will arrive on Saturday 27 May.

THE OTHER WAY: A JOURNEY BETWEEN RURAL HOUSES, FARMS, SHELTERS AND LIBRARIES

In each of the ten stages, Moses will bring the pieces of the Puzzle disk with a series of touring concerts on farms, farmhouses, shelters and bookstores. An opportunity to promote the project, which was released last March, but above all to allow the areas they crossed to tell their story, enhancing another way of traveling, with an approach to nature that respects the rhythms, the spaces and its beauty.

“Pizzicando’s work – says Mosè – was born with intention I combine my passion for music with that for travel and walking, was born when at 18 I did the Camino de Santiago. This time, however, I wanted my journey not only to enrich me through meeting people, places, foods and cultures, but also to give something to those I would meet along the way. I wondered what I could have given them during my passage. And so Pizzicando was born. “

LET THE TERRITORIES RETURN TO LIVE

With Pizzicando, Mosè has already traveled the entire alpine arc in 2019, with more than 50 concerts in some of the most iconic parts of the Alps, from Monviso to Cime di Lavaredo. And this time the other way could only be the most convenient way: the path, as we told you in this article, is a project that comes from the bottom, from the bet of two friends, Giovanni Amerio and Dario Corradino: together they have created a trail that can be reached either on foot or by bicycle that crosses two areas, Piedmont and Liguria. The dream is to become, along with many other wonderful Italian trails, a way to return to live and revitalize the lands and people who live there.

I wondered what I could have given them during my passage. And so Pizzicando was born

For Moses this is “one way to revive the lands and the people who live there, allowing those who choose to take the road to enjoy fantastic and heterogeneous views, to taste local specialties and excellence, to immerse themselves in ancient and recent history, to admire architectural wonders, to discover fascinating villages or to dare in inaccessible forests “. In short, it is his contribution to the upgrading of the whole landscape, the food and the wine and the historical wealth that is between us, “forgotten by the highway that connects them”.

During his journey, Moses will travel 206 kilometers, with 4,078 meters of ascent and 4,289 meters of descent, crossing 2 areas, 4 provinces, 45 municipalities and a UNESCO site. “It’s a newborn way,” Moses explains. was designed and built with principles, those of sustainability and slow tourism, which I share. And I like the idea that it is accessible to everyone, due to differences in height and duration. “When I heard that, I immediately thought it would be perfect for Pizzicando.”

There are many realities that have chosen to accompany him on this journey providing materials and skills. From Coldiretti Piemonte and Turismo in Langa, who helped find the venues for the concerts, to the Circular Market, which will help engage audiences with sustainability issues by proposing another way of looking at things. And then it was La Sportiva who supplied the shoes, Ferrino the clothes and the backpack, the publishing house Morellini edizioni created the Altra Via hiking guide, Eko Guitars gave the guitar, model “Marco Polo”, which he will bring with him Mosè and Mogar Music donated to the project a professional recorder that will be used to document the trip and share it with those who want to follow it. The style of the whole course will be on the basis of mutual exchange, without the commitment of funds: the stopping points offer food and accommodation and Moses his music.
